As a Product Designer working in the connected technologies team you will focus on the features we use in our app and how they enable a seamless user experience with the product. Being motivated by the best user experience to enhance Dyson's products will be essential. We will give you the opportunity to set the vision for our products, communicate it and drive it forward.

Function Overview

The team you could join sits within the Research, Design and Development department and is responsible for innovation and direction within our connected products program. The team works very closely with of four different areas (UX/UI, Technology and Commercial), which work collaboratively to deliver a seamless consumer experience. This team sets a vision for our products, which is then communicated and driven from concept to delivery.

Accountabilities

This role will work across many different teams at Dyson, including Insights, Commercial, UX / UI, Software Developers, Design Engineers and Design Managers. You will need to be able to look at a broader system, whilst also having the ability to use your analytical mind-set to focus on details when required.

The environment you work in will change constantly, providing an opportunity for ideas to be challenged and changed.

You have the chance to influence stakeholders and act as a 'Guardian of User Experience' for Dyson's products, building credibility and trust. The role will require you to present your ideas in varying formats, from Presentations to Story Boards, as well as having the ability to deliver your updates concisely when required.

Skills

  • A Degree and/or Masters in Industrial Design
  • Previous experience working in Internet of Things and Robotics
  • Outstanding communication skills, in person and on paper
  • An active interest in new products and technology advances
  • Previous experience in designing for connected products in Asia or Europe
  • Knowledge of Chinese language is a bonus
