Function Overview

Professional (B2B) is commercial arm of the business where we sell the Airblade hand dryer and tap and launched the Jake Dyson Lighting in 2016. Airblade is predominately seen in public spaces e.g. commercial kitchens, public bathrooms, universities etc.

Accountabilities

Our Professional team have been busy in 2016 with the launch of a multi category B2B portfolio of Lighting, Airblade, Purification and Haircare technology in over 54 markets. With ambitious growth plans over the next 5 years we require the expertise of an experienced Lighting Business Development Manager to drive sales and specification of the Dyson Lighting products in ANZ. Reporting into the Professional Director for ANZ, you will be responsible for leading sales and specification activity, driving specification via architects and designers to grow ANZ projects, revenue and profit. You will establish strong relationships with Lighting Distributors, Specifiers and Lighting Retailers using your deep understanding of the lighting specification process, key project stages and stakeholders to optimise specification sales opportunities.

In addition you will be responsible for:
  • Adopting the global specification strategy into an ANZ plan driving best in class execution
  • Generating, developing & managing the specification sales pipeline in your region, delivering short-term revenue as well as developing a credible pipeline of projects spanning a longer sales cycle
  • Managing lighting distributor relationships and growing the number of lighting distributor partners
  • Supporting ANZ BDM’s to specify and sell lighting in all states and territories
  • Development, communication and implementation of the ANZ specification strategy which is linked into Global specification strategy
  • Increase specified sales and gather information on market and creative trends through activity such as pitches, specification campaigns and attending industry functions
The position will require a degree of flexibility to meet client expectations and from time to time this may include evening and weekend events and intrastate travel.

Skills

With the integration of lighting into the Professional portfolio, this will be the key platform for our specification activity and requires a full time BDM with specification sales expertise in the lighting industry. Success will depend on your ability to forge relationships with the sales, marketing, finance and operations within Dyson and with external partners. It also requires an appreciation of the importance of selling products on the back of strong technology claims as well as an understanding of the fundamental values behind the Dyson brand. 

Additional qualifications include: 
  • An excellent technical understanding of LED lighting and ability to speak fluently with lighting designers about a wide range of technical aspects of general lighting
  • Familiarity with industry software programs such as DIALux 
  • A proven track record of driving specification revenue and profit growth in a well-regarded B2B business 
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix management environment where internal stakeholder management, influencing and relationship building skills are vital to operating effectively and getting results
