Description

The role will have responsibility for the analysing; challenging and reporting of Dyson product splits by Contract Manufactures (“CMs”). It also involves the assessment of the CMs risk profile with Dyson inclusive of that generated from foreign currencies exposures.

Our Singapore story began in 2004 and today we have more than 1000 people working here. At the beginning of 2017 we opened our new, state of the art, Singapore Technology Centre in Science Park I, minutes from Singapore’s technology and start-up community. This new Technology Centre houses some of Dyson’s most advanced facilities including Robotics and Sensors laboratories and Smart Home, Connectivity & Mobile Applications laboratories as well as an Advanced Control Tower with the latest technology to develop its analytics-driven activities.

Not too far away is West Park, our flagship advanced motor manufacturing facility where we develop our autonomous robotic manufacturing capabilities – more than 300 robots assemble our Dyson Digital Motor (DDM) here. It is here that we develop our next generation of motor technology.                           

Function Overview

Our Finance function provides the foundation for Dyson’s global commercial success. Creating and monitoring a framework of systems, processes and reporting that defines how we operate financially. The team forms a vital backbone of Dyson – encompassing our inventory, accounts payable and receivable, planning and analysis, and statutory reporting and consolidation. Delivering rapid performance insights and forecasting to help us stay ahead of the competition. And, in an organisation that doesn’t stand still, the team’s work is a growing challenge of ever-evolving numbers.

Accountabilities

Key areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to:


• Manage and report on aspects of Dyson product cost
• Manage and report on provisions set against Cost of Sales
• Conduct regular financial risk assessments of contract manufacturers
• Value/non value add review of key processes leading to driving process improvement
Overall Aims & Tasks
• Prepare monthly reports and analysis as part of cost of sales and Purchase Price Variance reporting scorecard or as required to support operations and decisions
• Evaluate product non-material quotes against current costs and present to Commercial for further review/ negotiations with Contract Manufacturers (CMs)
• Provide negotiation support to Commercial with data/ analysis/ scenario mapping
• Understand and run analysis on non-material cost of sales to support decision making – moulding, manufacturing lean activity, contribution, labour costs, paint processing. 
• Support the tender process with financial analysis in close conjunction with Commercial team
• Liaison with Singapore, Malaysia and UK finance teams for month end close reporting
• Manage the control environment within the risk buys, write off and rework, airfreight  processes
• Conduct and prepare any CMs related ad hoc reviews and analysis
• Involved in annual budgeting process for cost of sales
• Involved / take ownership of ad hoc commercial / strategic projects
• May be required to work out of the Senai office for 1 day a week




Skills

• MBA, Full/Part Qualified Accountant or equivalent post graduate qualification with experience in financial planning, analysis and/or strategy. 
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience
• Experience in rigorous financial analysis and comfortable with large databases
• Excellent analytical ability and Excel spreadsheet skills
• Ability to understand concepts and ideas quickly and model data in meaningful ways

• Naturally Inquisitive - comfortable and willing to interrogate existing systems with large amounts of data for answers but accepts that not every query has an exact answer
• Proactive in proposing ideas to challenge status quo 
• Experience in a manufacturing environment or engineering an advantage
• Experience in working across functions and cultures and dealing with overseas entities
• Excellent personal and business presentation skills, in particular the presentation of financial information to non-finance managers and directors
• Assertive and able to influence upwards and peers
• Good spoken & written English
• Has strong sense of operational discipline and ability to meet deadlines

• Tableau experience a plus
