As an individual within a fast-paced creative environment you will need to manage your stakeholders and their expectations.  Your input will help steer projects through the development milestone process.  You will work with local marketing teams to implement profitable, range / pricing strategies, and manage successful product launches.  The success of the business will depend on the part you play!

This particular role is one of our first satellite Insight roles; one that balances focus on creating further local market success with global reporting lines and prioritization. Local expertise is essential to the business for successful monitoring and guidance, ensuring all Dyson products meet business expectations. 

Market Overview

Dyson landed in the US in 2002 and within 24 months our technology was the market share leader. Our bustling HQ is based in the historic Montgomery Ward Building, overlooking the Chicago River. Just west of the city in Aurora, our dedicated US Customer Care team now numbers 160 people. In total, there are over 600 Dyson people working in multiple functions across the U.S.

Dyson US is still growing and is poised to double its footprint and take on new categories. Already a target for our competitors, challenging times are ahead, but our battle-hungry U.S. team are truly fired up!

Function Overview

Our mission is to interpret the consumer voice; understanding how to differentiate Dyson technology.  We work in the hub of action, as an interface between RDD, Commercial and Business functions.  We are the cement between the bricks of the Dyson product development framework.  We thrive on the technical challenges associated with establishing a convincing proposition through to a superior product offering.


The Global Insights Team consists of independent experts who provide advice to Dyson to facilitate smart business decisions.  As an extension of this team, you will support a variety of areas, including (but not limited to):
  • Collaborate with Global Insights Team to understand, embody and give feedback on business objectives
  • Advise on modifications to suggested methodologies, ensuring utilization of best research methodology / techniques
  • Design and/or advise on qualitative / quantitative research plans, questionnaires and moderator guides for products in all stages of the Product Life Cycle
  • Coordinate with suppliers, facilitating / overseeing in-market fieldwork
  • Set up, coordinate, moderate and support in-market research programs 
  • Establish process and own U.S. program for quality Insights delivery, including:
    • Identify / vet quality of suppliers
    • Localize global processes to ensure seamless delivery of insights to Global Team
    • Conduct post-launch user studies to provide insight for next generation products
    • Share best practices in the field of research
  • Combine rigorous research with business analysis & strategic thinking to:
    • Provide local insight within and across categories 
    • Interpret data, write reports & make actionable recommendations for region
    • Monitor the pulse of the U.S. market for Global Team
    • Answer commercial questions and work toward delivering accelerated growth across entire product / service development cycle
  • Collaborate with Global & CoE counterparts to devise / launch research campaigns
    • Establish pre-launch metrics to ascertain market dynamics
    • Create post-launch confidence & disruption measures  (i.e. final campaign kit testing, media optimization, independent user perception studies, external panels for on-going, always on testing / feedback)
    • First 6 months of launch: Conduct 360 degree launch / campaign reporting (digital, consumer perception, reviews, PR, in-store, retail, CRM, events, media, competitor activities, tracking, sales, mystery shop, etc.)
    • Quick re-test of content, products or short ad-hoc projects pre-launch and support new frontier immersion projects
    • Coordinate this program with on-going longitudinal tracking studies from Global team
  • Regional New Market launch assistance
    • Coordinate and manage all studies to provide insight into new markets prior to launch


  • A minimum of 7 years within the Market Research industry
  • 4+ years’ experience with product development research
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with consumer electronics / consumer goods industries is a plus
  • Practical experience with a wide array of new product, brand, advertising and customer satisfaction research methodologies
  • Experience in qualitative research and insight, with expertise in a wide range of techniques.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in moderating groups and depths
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and SPSS/SAS/Snap
  • Candidate must possess at least a Diploma/ Advanced/ Higher/ Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree/ Masters in Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Engineering, Science related subject or equivalent.
  • Must be able to travel extensively within the region and to UK office
  • Strong numeracy and analytic skills with experience in statistical modeling and analysis a benefit
  • Strong at identifying key themes and opportunities; narrowing down and polishing ideas
  • Demonstrable ability to analyze data
  • Adaptable, flexible, willing to take on new challenges and able to pick things up quickly
  • Attention to detail and must possess character of high integrity
