Commercial Insights Manager, US
This particular role is one of our first satellite Insight roles; one that balances focus on creating further local market success with global reporting lines and prioritisation. Local expertise is essential to the business for successful monitoring and guidance; ensuring all Dyson products meet business expectations.

To be successful within the Claims, Standards and Insights team you need to be a team player with imagination and a good work ethic. In addition, a self-starter- able to pick things up and happy to explore opportunities without a rigid framework and prioritisation. As individuals within a fast-paced creative environment you will need to manage your stakeholders and their expectations. Your input will help steer projects through the development milestone process and work with local marketing teams to implement profitable range and pricing strategies and manage successful product launches. Business success will depend on the part you play!
For reference, the Global Insights Team will:
Maintain central co-ordination of insight briefs (in order to have global consistency and avoid in market isolation).
Ensure segregating workload does not result in silo of expertise or information
Be responsible for seamless collaboration and fit within other insight roles (group/local)
Communicating with Global Insights Team to understand, embody and give feedback on business objectives (as outlined centrally)
Advising on changes to suggested methodologies, to ensure most appropriate research methodology and techniques
Advising on qualitative and quantitative research plans for products in all stages of the Product Life Cycle
Ability to design a research plan also needed
Advising on research questionnaires and moderator guides
Ability to be able to design / devise questionnaires and guides also needed
Co-ordinating with suppliers, facilitating and overseeing in-market fieldwork
Set-up and support in-market research programmes as devised by Global Insights Team
Coordinate administrative aspects of project.
Build process / own programme of quality Insights delivery from the US
Identify and vet quality of suppliers
Localise global processes to ensure seamless insights delivery back to the Global Team
Run local post-launch user studies so as to inform next generation products.
Sharing best practice in the field of research.
Moderation and facilitation of in-market research projects
Localise / translate stimulus where needed
Bringing together rigorous research with business analysis and strategic thinking
Provide local insights
Not only within categories, but also seeking the opportunities in cross category efficiencies and learnings
Interpreting data, writing reports, and making actionable recommendations for the region
Finger on the pulse of the US market for Global Team
Across the entire product and service development cycle, aiding to answer commercial questions and work towards delivering accelerated growth
Responsible for devising (together with Global and counterpart in other CoE) the launch research campaign;
Pre Launch metrics to understand market dynamics prior to launch
Post Launch confidence and disruption measures (final campaign kit testing, media optimisation, independent user perception studies, manage a Dyson external panel for on-going, always on testing- feedback)
First 6 months of launch: 360degree NPD launch campaign reporting (Digital, consumer perception, reviews, PR, in-store, retail, CRM, events, media, competitor activities, tracking, sales, mystery shop, etc.)
Quick re-testing of content, products or short ad hoc projects pre LC. and support new frontier immersion projects
Co-ordination of this programme with on-going longitudinal tracking studies run from Global
Regional New Market launch assistance
Co-ordinating and managing all studies to provide insight into new markets prior to launch
Candidate must possess at least a Diploma/ Advanced/ Higher/ Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree/ Masters in Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Engineering, and Science related subject or equivalent.
Must be able to travel extensively within the region and to UK office.
Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and SPSS/SAS/Snap
A minimum of 7 years within the Market Research industry
Ideally minimum 4 years’ experience with consumer electronics / consumer goods industries
Experience in Dyson product categories beneficial
4 years’ experience with product development research.
Practical experience with a wide array of new product, brand, advertising and customer satisfaction research methodologies
Experience in qualitative research and insight, with expertise in a wide range of techniques.
At least 4 years’ experience in moderating groups and depths
Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
Genuinely interested and excited by rummaging and foraging for answers- in data tables, desk research, out in the field or wherever they think they can find answers.
Strong numeracy and analytic skills with experience in statistical modelling and analysis a benefit
Strong at identifying key themes and opportunities; narrowing down and polishing ideas.
Demonstrable ability to analyse data.
Strong problem solver
Highly motivated self starter; able to pick things up and happy to explore opportunities without a rigid framework or direct supervision
Especially important given will be ‘sat’ remotely from team
Able to work independently without supervision
Strong communication skills
Potentially some previous experience working ‘on the move’, from home or remotely
Adaptable, flexible, willing to take on new challenges and able to pick things up quickly.
