The Competitor Strategy Team is part of Dyson Legal and offers great opportunities to engineers and scientists wishing to add commercial acumen and experiences with a view to a broader career in the future.

This role will provide analysis and support on the fullsize floorcare category where we need to channel our fighting spirit most fiercely, will involve all our international markets and also include the investigation of novel and competing technologies. We are a flexible team and once the core category is established, opportunities to support other categories are inevitable.

This role supports the activities of a wide selection of key Dyson teams, including global subsidiaries.

Market Overview

Home to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, Dyson HQ is tucked away in countryside famous for the railway tunnels and bridges of Isambard Brunel, who revolutionised modern engineering. Our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent-minded. Yet nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology).

Function Overview

The Competitor Intelligence Team's mission is to channel and exemplify Dyson’s Fighting Spirit, and to keep the business informed about the competition we face in our categories and markets. We have to ensure interesting features, technologies and high performance functions are alerted to the right people in the shortest time, and as appropriate provide advice on how to counteract claims and demonstrate the advantages of Dyson products. We are part of the Dyson Legal department, and work closely with our lawyers.

Reporting to the Head of Competitor Intelligence and working in the Competitor Strategy Team, you will provide accurate and insightful analysis on the worldwide competitor market and product trends to support the activities of the Legal team, Claims & Performance team, Product Strategy, Commercial and any other relevant departments.

You'll have previous experience within a business analysis or numerical environment where you'll have demonstrated the ability to identify key trends in market data. You will have the ability to share this data during presentations to senior stakeholders and key teams across the global Dyson business. Having an interest and understanding of consumer, market and product trends is also vital together with familiarity or ability to understand technical issues. The drive to work independently with a proactive and organised approach is equally as important as this is an extremely fast paced environment.

Benefits Overview

Dyson monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and pension contributions. Beyond that, you’ll also enjoy a profit-related bonus, generous leave and life insurance. But financial benefits are only the start of a Dyson career. Rapid professional growth, leadership development and new opportunities abound, driven by regular reviews and dynamic workshops. And with a vibrant culture, flexible working hours, the latest devices and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, it’s an exciting team environment geared to creativity, innovation and ambition.
