  • We are looking for an experienced, passionate and talented Team Lead to join our global safety compliance team.  Dyson has a rapidly expanding portfolio of products and technologies and has ambitions of selling in over 100 countries.  
  • This role is critical to driving design; providing expertise and advice to support business growth.  
  • The Compliance and Approvals team lead is an integral part of the design team; developing new products to satisfy global approvals standards and legislation.

Market Overview:

Home to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, Dyson HQ is home to over 3,500 people who work across a medley of engineering and commercial functions. The award-winning campus has three cafes, a sports centre and a number of engineering icons including our Harrier and Lightning jets – one of which hangs from the ceiling of our café. Based in Malmesbury, the campus is within easy reach of both the Cotswolds and cities like Bath and Bristol along the M4 corridor.

Function Overview:

For a Dyson engineer, breaking the rules is part of the job. It’s what makes our products different. But the next great Dyson idea can’t change the world from a lab. To ensure our machines can be sold, there are some rules we need to stick to. From reviewing initial concepts to testing final components in our accredited test laboratories, our Compliance and Approvals team is a critical voice during the design phase. By making sure Dyson product are never kept off the shelf by global standards and legislation, we play vital role in supporting the growth of Dyson. 


  • Manage the UK Compliance and Approvals safety team to ensure alignment with the C&A team and wider business objectives
  • Be recognised as a source of technical expertise for global standards and legislation across all Dyson products
  • Provide detailed technical guidance on product testing
  • Work closely with internal departments, Dyson global offices and external certification bodies to deliver third party certifications
  • Ensure compliance activities run smoothly and are delivered on time using effective planning and reporting tools
  • Develop new compliance processes and provide training and guidance


  • Global experience in a Compliance and Approvals role for consumer products
  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering subject
  • Demonstrable experience of gaining and maintaining Approvals and Certifications for consumer products
  • Previous team/line-management experience
  • Global standards and legislation expertise for consumer products
  • Familiarity with testing and test methods for IEC, EN, BSI and UL standards
  • Involvement with standards working groups/trade associations/external bodies
  • Electronic/ engineering knowledge highly desirable
  • The ability to interpret technical documentation and provide detailed guidance
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to liaise at all levels within the business
  • Autonomous and methodical approach with strong attention to detail
  • Experience of working with external organisations and managing technical data files
  • Strong project management skills and ability to deliver to deadlines
