Market Overview:

In 2000, Dyson moved production from Malmesbury to Malaysia to be closer to our supply chains and open up international growth. The small team of 10 has now grown to almost 1,200 – forming Dyson’s second biggest global hub. Located in the exhilarating industrial heart of Johor, it’s also home to RDD, IT, operations,  finance, creative and HR.

The RDD facility is central to our plans to launch 100 new machines in the next four years. To meet these ambitions, we recently expanded the site to 30,000m², with 50 advanced technology labs and 700 new engineers. In the Dyson world, there’s no more exciting place to be.

Function Overview:

Our Financial Accounting team provides the foundation for Dyson’s global commercial success, creating and monitoring a framework of systems, processes and reporting that defines how we operate financially. The team forms a vital backbone of Dyson – encompassing our inventory, accounts payable and receivable, planning and analysis, and statutory reporting and consolidation. Delivering rapid performance insights and forecasting to help us stay ahead of the competition. And, in an organisation that doesn’t stand still, the team’s work is a growing challenge of ever-evolving numbers.

Accountabilities:

  • BOM analysis - Complete in depth analysis of X projects risks/opportunities and reasons for cost movements. Review other cost reports produced by Cost Analyst(s) to maintain a consistent standard
  • Cost Admin – to be a leading member of the team and taking ownership of reporting costs and communicating outside of the team, building X project BOM’s for new category and higher complexity projects with Business Target alignment. 
  • Base cost setup - manage base cost setup for additional SKUs in SKU Tracker and responsible for GMDM report released for mid and end month base cost setup
  • Volume Forecast - release monthly shipment volume forecast based on APO
  • Matrix Coding - assist Cost Manager on matrix coding for X-projects
  • Ownership – take initiate and responsibility for the delivery of cost reports in line with the monthly reporting cycles for the projects allocated and support Cost Analyst(s) with the delivery of their reports
  • Comparison - Construct comparisons of project ranges and individual projects alike, in order to identify key variances for the projects allocated and support Cost Analyst(s) with their comparisons.
  • Review and agree project costs for the projects allocated with key stake holders, Procurement, Engineering, Tooling, Manufacturing and Finance. Support Cost Analyst(s) if they are unable to achieve this on their projects.
  • Understand the cost inputs and be able to challenge the supporting teams when their information doesn’t demonstrate the required level of detail and support Cost Analyst(s) with their projects
  • Deliver special reports for new and existing projects in new formats when required. work closely with the Cost Manager to highlight potential opportunities to develop these into standard reports
  • Adherence to team process of reporting and storage of data. To follow correct process and accuracy of reporting.

Skills:

  • Candidate willing to work on Fixed Term Contract of 12 months
  • Degree holder in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or other equivalent qualification.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Finance from relevant Costing background
  • Excellent excel skill
  • Drive to understand all aspects of the operations of Dyson Group
  • Confidence to work autonomously to deliver high quality results
  • Inquisitive nature to better understand engineering and part level detail of project costs, to question and raise concerns over assumptions.
