Description

The role of Creative Retoucher is to develop and perfect our renders and photographs, to support the graphic communication of Dyson marketing materials and for all media types globally.

Market Overview

Home to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, Dyson HQ is tucked away in countryside famous for the railway tunnels and bridges of Isambard Brunel, who revolutionised modern engineering. Our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent-minded. Yet nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology).

The building is the heartbeat of Dyson. Over 1,500 people, including James himself, spend their days strategizing, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world. From 2016, our HQ will begin doubling its footprint with an ambitious new expansion.

Function Overview

Bringing brand new technology to life – and to the world – requires inventive marketing. Clarity of message. Vast reach. And engagement in more innovative ways. Working closely with our engineers, our marketeers develop powerful claims through scientific research. And from traditional channels to cutting-edge events, retail experiences, social media and PR, we seize every chance to tell the Dyson story.

Accountabilities

The role consists of simple to complex photorealistic retouching of high end product stills, to lifestyle imagery - with the majority weighted towards high-end product stills.

This role offers a high level of creative input to projects and dynamism to the team.

You will proactively lead on the development of your own work, share your findings and encourage best practice with others in the team. The role does not involve any managerial requirements but does include working closely with Image Team Leaders and the Head of Art, through all stages of creation.

Main responsibilities of this role include taking briefs from any area of the business and developing on brand solutions to complex problems. You will be expected to contribute both creative and technical ideas to projects from initial concept through to final output. You will also produce high quality, accurate and print-ready imagery to the specification and timescales given.

Skills

This position requires a passionate interest in photography and all types imagery in general, with a driving desire to develop new retouching techniques to strengthen the Dyson imagery team’s high quality and high output. For this reason, the role demands proactive behaviour, strong team integration skills and a personable character.

You should be comfortable working with a variety of different CG render passes, have a solid understanding of working in 8bit, 16bit and 32bit formats and understand how to work on and set up image files for print.

You will have a strong portfolio demonstrating creative, high-end photo realistic retouch skills. Excellent attention to detail and careful crafting are essential

Benefits Overview

Dyson monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and pension contributions. Beyond that, you’ll also enjoy a profit-related bonus, generous leave and life insurance. But financial benefits are only the start of a Dyson career. Rapid professional growth, leadership development and new opportunities abound, driven by regular reviews and dynamic workshops. And with a vibrant culture, flexible working hours, the latest devices and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, it’s an exciting team environment geared to creativity, innovation and ambition.
