The business is growing and international trade is becoming more complex.  As a result, a new customs manager role has been created, based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. You will be part of Dyson’s global customs team, working closely with the Senior Regional Customs Manager to drive forward customs compliance in Asia, supporting the Asia business needs on a wide range of customs matters and managing the regional customs team in Malaysia & Philippines. Market Overview

In 2000, Dyson moved production from Malmesbury to Malaysia to be closer to our supply chains and open up international growth. The small team of 10 has now grown to almost 1,200 – forming Dyson’s second biggest global hub. Located in the exhilarating industrial heart of Johor, it’s also home to RDD, IT, operations,  finance, creative and HR.

The RDD facility is central to our plans to launch 100 new machines in the next four years. To meet these ambitions, we recently expanded the site to 30,000m², with 50 advanced technology labs and 700 new engineers. In the Dyson world, there’s no more exciting place to be.

Function Overview

Our Financial Accounting team provides the foundation for Dyson’s global commercial success, creating and monitoring a framework of systems, processes and reporting that defines how we operate financially. The team forms a vital backbone of Dyson – encompassing our inventory, accounts payable and receivable, planning and analysis, and statutory reporting and consolidation. Delivering rapid performance insights and forecasting to help us stay ahead of the competition. And, in an organisation that doesn’t stand still, the team’s work is a growing challenge of ever-evolving numbers.


  • Responsible for ensuring quick and compliant customs clearance in APAC markets

  • Ensure compliance filings are accurate and timely

  • Develop and implement new solutions to improve compliance processes, and/or improve existing ones

  • Evaluate and assist in implementation of trade compliance software systems as appropriate

  • Prepare and deliver training on country specific requirements to relevant stakeholders

  • Develop good working relationships with internal (logistics, supply chain, finance teams) and external stakeholders (suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, brokers) to drive forward customs compliance performance

  • Manage and develop the customs team in Malaysia and Philippines


  • Minimum 3 years customs experience at manager level

  • Able to communicate effectively with people on all levels

  • Able to prioritise and work to deadlines and delivering projects

  • Attention to detail

  • Must be motivated, flexible and resilient

  • Willingness to travel within Asia

  • Project management skills
