Dyson is a data-driven company and data is at the core of our culture, fuelling the engine of our impressive growth plan over the coming years
Building our analytical capabilities is a core pillar of Dyson's new global data strategy. As more consumers engage with Dyson, via more types of products, and across more markets, the volumes of data will greatly increase. Understanding how to use this data to improve everything from customer experiences to product development will be key to Dyson's success.
This roll will report to Data Manager, and sits within the Global Data and Analytics team. This team is tasked with ensuring that the various parts of Dyson's business are able to leverage rich, accurate, and timely data to generate insights and make better decisions. Sitting in IT, the team has the resources and the remit to keep up with Dyson's impressive global growth
As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for both maintaining as well as further developing Dyson's big data cluster. This means owning the software and code that makes it tick, as well as managing the workflows and schemas that tie it all together. You will be expected to work closely with the SAP, MS, and Redshift developers across the company to ensure that we are building one integrated solution, and not yet another silo.
You will have experience with data warehouses, preferably having worked with AWS or GCP. You dream of SQL and schemas, and are particularly passionate about pipelines. Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Impala, Sqoop, Oozie, Athena, Redshift, BigQuery... unlike most people, you know what they mean, how they work, and why you would choose one of the other. You will likely be fluent in Java, Scala, or Python
Dyson monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and pension contributions. Beyond that, you’ll also enjoy a profit-related bonus, generous leave and life insurance. But financial benefits are only the start of a Dyson career. Rapid professional growth, leadership development and new opportunities abound, driven by regular reviews and dynamic workshops. And with a vibrant culture, flexible working hours, the latest devices and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, it’s an exciting team environment geared to creativity, innovation and ambition.
