Description and Requirements

How would you like to be the Data Programme Manager for our new Data function? Reporting to our Director of Data, you will be responsible for the portfolio of work that our team is undertaking. This could include prototyping, data products, or other data projects, and tracking all associated risks and issues. You will also have the autonomy to improve our ability to deliver at scale through defining, implementing and managing pragmatic but robust project governance across the portfolio and providing direction for all programmes and large projects.

Market Overview:

Dyson HQ is home to over 3,500 people who work across a medley of engineering and commercial functions. The award-winning campus has three cafes, a sports centre and a number of engineering icons including our Harrier and Lightning jets – one of which hangs from the ceiling of our café. Based in Malmesbury, the campus is within easy reach of both the Cotswolds and cities like Bath and Bristol along the M4 corridor.

Function Overview:

This role sits within Dyson's Global Data and Analytics team. This team is tasked with ensuring that the various parts of Dyson's business are able to leverage rich, accurate, and timely data to generate insights and make better decisions. As a part of IT, the team has the resources and the remit to keep up with Dyson's impressive global growth. Building our analytical capabilities is a core pillar of Dyson's new global data strategy. As more consumers engage with Dyson, via more types of products, and across more markets, the volumes of data will greatly increase. Understanding how to use this data to improve everything from customer experiences to product development will be key to Dyson's success.

Accountabilities:

  • You will run and own the implementation of our team’s ways of working, particularly around process rigour and communications both inside the team and with external partners.
  • You will lead a team of analytics specialists to deliver initiatives in a timely manner and successfully manage the balance providing a quick solution vs. a complete solution.
  • Partner with the team leads to understand key challenges and blockers in their areas, and provide suggestions on how to resolve them, through alignment with wider IT leadership.
  • Track the impact of work and quantify the business impact in monetary terms, particularly as it relates to the original business case defined before project kick-off.
  • Working cross functionally to maintain the team’s budget and expenditures, you will build a full revenue vs. cost model for our team’s activities to understand return on investment overall of our projects.

Skills:

  • You have worked in a team working on analytics or data-related projects before.
  • A proven track record in delivery.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of all stages of the project and programme lifecycle, including development of business cases, mobilisation of programmes.
  • Knowledge of multiple project management methodologies.
  • Experience of delivering complex programmes.
  • A keen interest in data analytics and how the business could use it
  • Experience in budget management and financial reporting.
