Description

The Virtual Series lead / Digital Mock Up Lead has a key role in the Electric Vehicle project, driving the compatibility and completeness of the engineering data with engineering functional areas to support all Virtual Series engineering activities. 

Responsible for delivering geometric compatibility of the product design, and providing leadership to resolve cross-functional issues where necessary. 

They will report to the Virtual Series Engineering Manager.

Function Overview

We’ve begun work on a battery electric vehicle – that’s no secret. It has remained our ambition to solve the worldwide problem of air pollution for nearly 30 years. Now that we have the ability to bring all our technologies together into a single product, we’re able to solve this problem at the source. For now, it’s all about finding the right people to make it all happen for 2020.

Accountabilities

Lead planning and delivery of geometric compatibility DPA checks for each virtual series gateway. 

This may require co-ordination of both in-house and external resources Define the process for the geometric compatibility DPA and identify appropriate resources, facilities and software tools to deliver.

Drive cross functional issue resolution of geometric compatibility issues identified during DPA checks through regular DMU reviews.

Drive cross functional CAD quality maturation through development and implementation of CAD data level maturity assessment.

Work with PMTs, DPA teams and Studio to ensure CAD maturation aligns with business requirements at each virtual series release point.

Develop appropriate metrics to track and report compatibility progress and ensure compatibility of design is aligned to key programme events e.g. prototype and production releases, CAE activities and other DPA checks

Interface with other DPA teams for resolution of all DPA issues affecting geometric compatibility.



Skills

A degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is preferable (Note: Good relevant experience will be considered in lieu of qualifications);

Experience working within a cross-functional geometric integration / DMU lead role.  Automotive experience preferable, but other disciplines will be considered e.g. aerospace, rail.

Experience using Siemens Teamcenter v10 preferable.

Experience using CAD visualisation tools essential (e.g. Teamcenter visualisation professional or Vismockup).

Experience of the Virtual Series process and geometric compatibility DPA process.
