Market Overview

Dyson HQ, is tucked away in the Wiltshire countryside, our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent-minded. The growing campus is the heartbeat of Dyson. Benefitting from an onsite Gym, sports pitch, multiple cafes and a nature walk. Over 2,000 people, including James himself, spend their days strategizing, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world.

Function Overview

The ‘Image & Identity Team’ is one of three core teams within the central Dyson Commercial Division, reporting directly into the Global Creative Director. Its central role is defining, documenting, auditing and controlling who we are, what we say, how we look and sound, as well as when and where we communicate. They will provide guidance and training to ensure the appropriate and consistent application of our visual identity and tone of voice to deliver a the Dyson Experience globally.


The Image and Identity team will establish a comprehensive set of templates for all deliverable campaign items, working with closely with Campaign Team to deliver high quality master files that are fit for transcreation.


The team will also support internal Dyson functions, such as PR, HR, JDF, RDD, Legal and Facilities to provide internal and external communications that present "Dyson" as an entity (an enterprise), in a clear and consistent way.

Accountabilities

We need a Creative Writer to work in the Image and Identity team, focussed primarily on "enterprise communications". Dyson is not just a business, it is also a charity, a centre of excellence for engineering, and a career destination.


As a Writer in the image and Identity team, you will be responsible for generating stories, messages and headlines which represent Dyson as an entity, appropriately and consistently in all markets and all channels. You will work closely with The Enterprise comms creative team, to support internal functions across the business in creating effective and relevant communications for both internal and external audiences. As part of the Image and Identity team, you will be responsible for defining and controlling the tone of voice we use to describe ourselves and establishing our approach to storytelling. Engineering stories told in a human way, and human stories told in a n engineering way. Storytelling plays a big part in how we communicate at Dyson.

Skills

We’re looking for a creative writer, who understands the technical side of language, in order to construct sentences that are grammatically correct, and reflect are tone of voice. You must also be able to understand and interpret technical data in order to best communicate it in a clear and visually engaging way. You must be an expert at writing and handling large volumes of copy. Being able to structure a story and apply logical information hierarchy where necessary. You will be comfortable generating content, from raw data and research as well as developing copy drafted by internal stakeholders. You will have a degree or equivalent in English Language.
