In a market where Dyson entered and created something new, how can insights help the business grow? With the expansion of the China market, the need for understanding consumers continuously increases. As an Insights Graduate, you will help support Dyson China’s market research and consumer insights. You’ll be educating the business, both local and global colleagues, with what it means to be a Chinese Dyson consumer.

Market Overview

Dyson has made a major strategic expansion into Asia. China is our main focus market for future growth, delivering a turnover of RMB2billion within 4 years. At the heart of the Asia expansion is the decision to create a strong Dyson team on the ground in Shanghai, where this role will be based. The team is currently 300+ people.

In this role specifically you can expect the following:

  • Help Dyson China better understand consumers through research

  • Take business questions and translate them into research covering market landscape to product experience

  • Work with other departments to analyze and understand business opportunities

  • Familiarize yourself with the various market research tools available

  • Set up and conduct focus groups

  • Create and translate questionnaires from CN-EN and vice versa

  • Present findings to wider team through small meetings and experiential workshops

  • Analyze data in Excel using basic formulas and pivot tables

  • Compile reports across various data resources to support business decisions


  • Preferred candidates will have previous intern experience in Marketing and/or in a leading Market Research Agency – e.g. ACNielsen, Millward Brown, GfK, etc – and ideally gained overeas

  • You’ll be part of a larger team so must be able to work with others but be equally as comfortable working independently; managing your own time and project deliverables.  

  • Stakeholders are diverse – internal and external; senior management, technical specialists or other Graduates potentially. They could be based locally or further afield in one of our other 20+ offices so you must be able to build relationships quickly and develop your personal networks

  • Working in a Global business you will need to be fluent in both Mandarin and English, both spoken and written, and any additional languages would be a bonus

  • You will have recently Graduated/be graduating from University with at least a Bachelor’s degree, but possibly a Masters level. We are open to the subject of study, but are particularly interested to hear from people that have studied overseas

  • We are an innovative technology company, making a broad range of product and so an understanding of what we do, and what makes us different, is advantageous

  • In this role you will specifically need experience with analysis software: e.g. SPSS, Tableau

  • Excellent Microsoft office – particularly PowerPoint and Excel - skills are essential
