Market Overview

Home to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, the Dyson HQ campus can be found in secluded countryside that helps keep our secrets secret. Having doubled in size in 2016, the campus is now home to new research and development facilities, a new restaurant (home to an English Electric Lightning jet) and a sports facility catering to all Dyson people. Nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology).

The building is the heartbeat of Dyson. Over 2,500 people, including James himself, spend their days there strategizing, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world.

Function Overview

Pushing the boundaries using the latest scientific and engineering techniques to understand complex scientific phenomena in our products requires a wide range of skill sets.  Our Research department has experts from a range of disciplines, everything from Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, Materials Science, Electronics and Acoustics, through to others you might not have thought about, such as Mathematics, Physics, Thermodynamics, Chemistry and Microbiology.  All have an important role to play in supporting our core design challenges.


You will be working alongside our numerous Scientists and Engineers who are always seeking new technologies and methods to make future Dyson technology possible. To be a part of this we will require a highly motivated, creative, methodical and flexible person ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach and inquisitive scientific mind.

We’ll support you with a full induction programme, learning about Dyson's global business, meeting senior stakeholders and networking with your new colleagues. Technical induction follows to provide understanding of processes, technologies and safety; setting you up to contribute fully in your role. Beyond this you’ll be supported by an ongoing development programme making sure you have a breadth of exposure – to our Engineering departments and Dyson as a whole.


You’ll need to have (or be expecting) at least a 2.1 in an engineering or science subject. Ideally you will have had exposure to and an interest in technical science or engineering, applied mathematics and/or product development. 

As you'll be working at the forefront of technology you'll need to be highly motivated, inquisitive, creative, methodical and flexible, ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach.
