Market Overview

Home to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, the Dyson HQ campus can be found in secluded countryside that helps keep our secrets secret. Having doubled in size in 2016, the campus is now home to new research and development facilities, a new restaurant (home to an English Electric Lightning jet) and a sports facility catering to all Dyson people. Nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology).
 
The building is the heartbeat of Dyson. Over 2,500 people, including James himself, spend their days there strategizing, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world.

Function Overview

Research, Design and Development is Dyson's engine room, and it's growing rapidly. Our engineers challenge convention, build, test, fail, refine, and then fail again - all to invent technology that solves problems that others ignore. To be different takes courage as well as creativity. Based at our new high technology campus in Malmesbury, you’ll be part of a 1,700-strong global team of engineers and scientists. From day one you’ll be working on top secret projects using cutting edge equipment. Whichever area you join we’ll support your development, helping you understand Dyson and grow into the role. The rest is up to you; a chance to help shape the next generation of Dyson technology.

Accountabilities

As a Graduate in this area, you'll be assigned to a project team from day one, taking real responsibility and contributing alongside experts in this field. Elements you could be involved with include:

  • real time embedded software for a range of varied consumer products.
  • Develop Device Drivers on a range of silicon platforms.
  • Analysis of high level requirements into efficient algorithms.
  • Fast prototyping of complex ideas onto an embedded platform in the C/C++ programming language.
  • Debug real time software issues using a range of techniques and tools. Integration of software with hardware and mechanics.
  • Development of tools to support embedded software product development.

We’ll support you with a full induction programme, learning about Dyson's global business, meeting senior stakeholders and networking with your new colleagues. Technical induction follows to provide understanding of processes, technologies and safety; setting you up to contribute fully in your role. Beyond this you’ll be supported by an ongoing development programme making sure you have a breadth of exposure – to our Engineering departments and Dyson as a whole.

Skills

You’ll need to have (or be expecting) a 2.2 or higher in one of the following subjects: electrical or electronic engineering; software engineering, computer science or robotics.
