HR Business Partner - Malaysia

The HR Business Partner role is a true business partnering role and provides a great opportunity for an experienced HR professional who is keen to develop their business partnering skills within a rapidly expanding business. Reporting to the Operations HR Business Partnering Lead, working within an HR team based in Malaysia but operating within a wider SEA team, you will provide generalist HR support across the business at Dyson Design Centre, Malaysia. 

The role requires considerable adaptability; based out of our site in Malaysia you will work closely with the various “Heads of” departments and this will require the ability to deal effectively with different demands and different challenges. You will have to be resilient and able to work with ambiguity, facilitating line managers to identify key people issues and support their HR requirements.

Dyson employs nearly 7,000 people globally, of whom1,200 are based in our design centre undertaking engineering and operations in Johor Bahru in Malaysia.

The face of Dyson is changing rapidly. Three years ago 80% of Dyson’s business was full-sized vacuum cleaners. Function Overview

Dyson is a technology business that values people above all else. This puts HR at the heart of the business – with specialist functions for Talent Development, Acquisition, Operations and Rewards. The HR Generalist function is the linchpin of all of these departments. We oversee every people-related decision, with unique knowledge of the bigger business and commercial objectives.


The HRBP will work with business leaders and team members within the business and deliver HR support in a proactive manner to a team of over 500+. The HRBP will collaborate within the wider HR team of Business Partners, HR Shared Services, Recruitment and Talent Development to deliver HR solutions which are fully aligned with the business strategy. The role will require the individual to maintain a fine balance between strategy and operations. 
  • Demonstrate strong professional credibility and build relationship as a trusted advisor with managers and leaders in Dyson Malaysia.
  • Work with the HR Business Partnering Leads and the broader business to identify and develop HR priorities within the business strategy – to ensure plans are in place to tackle key people risks and challenges over the short and longer term.
  • Work closely with the Business Partnering Lead for the segment, to support end to end organizational change that will improve the overall business performance.
  • Lead and support the talent agenda for Dyson Malaysia, by working in partnership with the business and the talent team. Understand key talent; identify their areas of strength and development needs by actively participating and facilitating talent review session.
  • Work closely with the business in Dyson Malaysia to drive core annual people processes.
  • Work closely with the relevant HR team and the HR Business Partnering teams to define, deliver and measure Dyson’s culture and engagement initiatives for Dyson Malaysia.
  • Have a clear understanding of the recruitment needs for Dyson Malaysia. Working closely with the HR Business Partnering Leads, recruitment teams and hiring managers to hire the appropriate talent efficiently.
  • Provide inputs to the HR Business Partnering Leads on reward and benefits requirements to ensure that they do not impact our ability to attract and retain talent.
  • Working with the HR Operations teams to ensure that all MI is updated and is accessible.
  • Support business initiatives through participating in multi-function and multi-geographical project teams as required.


  • Progressive experience in the HR generalist space
  • Has worked within a matrix environment and structure within a global organization
  • Experience of working in a technology organization – RDD/ Manufacturing Operations would be desirable
  • Experience of working within an entrepreneurial organisation would be desirable
  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of working within a global/international organization.
