A Head of Category sits in the Group Commercial organization and reports to the Operations Director.  Working as an expert within the category, they will develop and apply a deep understanding of how to market and drive the commercial success of the Connected Products Category globally; planning, leading and executing global projects that will drive commercial performance, both NPD launches and ‘in-life’ initiatives.

Function Overview

Over the last few years, we’ve established and invested in our Connectivity Research function, dedicated entirely to exploring, testing and refining next generation IoT solutions that will enable Dyson products to work in a connected environment.

And you’ll be joining us at an exciting, challenging time as we further grow our IoT and connected product range and launch our new responsive ecommerce site designed to inform and inspire.

Accountabilities


The role takes ownership for providing effective cross-functional and cross-market leadership and coordination for their assigned products/projects.  They’ll collaborate with and pull on the expertise of colleagues in Group Commercial functions (UX and UI, creative, retail, digital, PR, advertising, graphics and packaging), and work with global in-market teams to understand local commercial contexts and influence and execute global strategies. They will be supported by a Commercial Exec, to keep the operational side of projects on time and running fluidly.

 

This is not just proposition development. A Head of Category will look at all commercial aspects of their products: ranging, pricing, distribution, promotional strategy etc.

Skills

Experience of confidently leading and inspiring virtual teams to review, plan, create and deliver.  Experience of doing this internationally, and across marketing related functions (e.g. R&D, Consumer Research, Creative) very preferable.

Experience of product or brand management, i.e. simultaneous management of product marketing and communications.

Strong knowledge of traditional and digital media.

Minimum 2:1 degree.

Experience working with and managing advertising, PR and promotion agencies.
