The SEA Lead Business Analyst leads and manages the SEA business analysis team as part of the Business Analysis Chapter within the Group IT Deliver function. Business Analysts support across multiple Guilds and Tribes (functional areas and projects) defining process and assuring the design of smart technology solutions in support of Dyson’s strategic objectives. The SEA team will be focussed towards Dyson’s manufacturing and logistics business areas initially and there will be overlap with the Sales, Logistics and Planning BA Guild in the UK.

Market Overview

In 2000, Dyson moved production from Malmesbury to Malaysia to be closer to our supply chains and open up international growth. The small team of 10 has now grown to almost 1,200 – forming Dyson’s second biggest global hub. Located in the exhilarating industrial heart of Johor, it’s also home to RDD, IT, operations,  finance, creative and HR.

The RDD facility is central to our plans to launch 100 new machines in the next four years. To meet these ambitions, we recently expanded the site to 30,000m², with 50 advanced technology labs and 700 new engineers. In the Dyson world, there’s no more exciting place to be.

Function Overview

Our Digital IT team is one of the company’s fastest growing functions. Spanning across Dyson’s presence online, transactional capabilities, customer care, marketing support and the front and back office technology that makes Dyson work, it is the nerve centre of Dyson. The team spans many specialities from Technical to Business Analysis and Testing. Crucially, as we look to drive future growth by increasing direct sales, dyson.com becomes our most vital global sales channel. Like Dyson products, we embrace the latest technologies, excelling in quality and usability.

Accountabilities

BA best practice

  • Supports Operations Business Analysis manager in delivering and standardising BA Ways of Working and deliverables in order to support Deliver’s word class execution, including:

  • Standard ways of working for PRINCE2 waterfall and Agile DSM delivery ensuring clear role for BA in both

  • Excellence and consistency in requirements gathering e.g. well-structured user stories, robust process mapping, engaging presentations etc

  • Working with teams across Group IT to ensure a common understanding and approach to project delivery

 

Team Leadership

  • Establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure business analysis execution meets and regularly exceeds directives of the Operations Business Analysis Manager and the requirements of the projects to which their team are assigned

  • Manages and continuously evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to ensure business analysis execution meets and regularly exceeds directives of the Operations Business Analysis Manager and the requirements of the projects to which their team are assigned

  • Identifies process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the business analysis function

  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex projects and programmes

Skills

Key skills required:

  • Formal accreditation in business analysis e.g. CBAP, PMI, BCS, etc

  • Experience of practical execution of change management

  • Ability to resolve unique and complex problems where facts may be insufficient or misleading

  • Operational experience in supply chain / logistics and /or commercial planning

  • Matrix management

 

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of programme and project management methods including DSDM / Agile PM and PRINCE2

  • Knowledge of Confluence / Jira

 

 Key experience required:

  • 5+ years of experience in the supply chain / logistics and /or commercial planning and / or similar process area including at least 4+ years in leadership, ideally gained in consumer goods organisation

  • 8+ years of experience in change management  / IT with experience with Agile software development methodologies being highly desired

  • Experience of operating with and as a global team (geographically dispersed)

  • Experience of leading a global team (geographically dispersed)

  • Demonstrates a proven track record in leading, coaching and mentoring a team of business analysts

  • Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy

  • Able to produce creative solutions from basic concepts

  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
