The Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology’s mission is to become the best engineering university in the world. As Operations Development Manager, you’ll need to be hands on and strategic in defining and implementing the operational processes and systems for our rapidly growing team.
You will be responsible for controlling our day-to-day business operations in both a fast paced and evolving environment, as well as identifying process improvement and creating new processes to ensure the best experience for our undergraduates and employees alike.

Function Overview:

The Dyson Institute was established to address the UK’s shortage of engineers, providing its Undergraduates with the unique opportunity to study towards a tuition-fee free degree in General Engineering while also holding a real, paid job in Dyson Technology’s Global Engineering team. In September 2017 the first cohort of Undergraduate Engineers arrived on the Malmesbury campus to begin their engineering degree which is currently delivered and awarded by WMG, University of Warwick. The Dyson Institute plans to become a higher education provider in its own right and, ultimately, the first privately funded engineering university in the UK.

Accountabilities:

  • You will create robust process documentation such as a tracking system that captures agreed procedures and decisions within the team
  • Identify and implement data management systems and processes for our growing team, reviewing regularly to ensure these have been implemented effectively and consistently
  • Review the efficiency of business procedures and apply process improvements and new initiatives, to drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Relationship management with wider Dyson teams and key stakeholders to ensure that they have all they need and tasks are delivered on time and to the highest standard
  • Manage our relationship with the University of Warwick, facilitating communication and collaboration alongside their Programme and Relationship Manager
  • Manage contracts and relationships with external partners and suppliers to ensure that tasks are delivered on time and to the highest standard 
  • Manage and deliver non-recruitment focused events

Skills:

  • Experience in an project management setting is ideal, as well as having proven experience in identifying and implementing process improvement
  • Impeccable time-management and organisational skills
  • Highly motivated and confident working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of defining, implementing and managing systems that support business operations within a start-up or agile company
  • Experience of identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable to meet changing requirements
