The role of the Operations Project Manager is to manage and implement significant operationally focused projects. These individual projects will:

 

  1. Deliver benefits to our manufacturing operations both internal and external to Dyson.

  2. Improve the introduction of either new products or technologies from the start tooling phase of development through the mass production.

Market Overview

Our Singapore story began in 2004 and today we have more than 1000 people working here. At the beginning of 2017 we opened our new, state of the art, Singapore Technology Centre in Science Park I, minutes from Singapore’s technology and start-up community. This new Technology Centre houses some of Dyson’s most advanced facilities including Robotics and Sensors laboratories and Smart Home, Connectivity & Mobile Applications laboratories as well as an Advanced Control Tower with the latest technology to develop its analytics-driven activities.

Not too far away is West Park, our flagship advanced motor manufacturing facility where we develop our autonomous robotic manufacturing capabilities – more than 300 robots assemble our Dyson Digital Motor (DDM) here. It is here that we develop our next generation of motor technology.                           

Function Overview

It’s one thing to solve a problem that’ll change technology forever. But turning that idea into a reality takes solving many more problems – and success is ultimately measured, not by the thinking, but by the product. Our Manufacturing department supports over 1,000 Dyson engineers worldwide turning ideas into groundbreaking technology. Involved early in the design, we identify materials, pre-empt production issues and find ways to build more efficiently. Yet robustly. From designing the machines, to the machines that build the machines, we’re helping to shape the future of technology.

Accountabilities

The role of the Operations Project Manager is to manage and implement significant operationally focused projects. These individual projects will:

1) Deliver benefits to our manufacturing operations both internal and external to Dyson

2) Improve the introduction of either new products or technologies from the start tooling phase of development through the mass production.


The Operations Project Manager is responsible for development of the transfer project plan, coordinating cross functional resources both internally and externally to implement and deliver the project objectives.


Under the leadership of Operations Manager, they will also be expected to identify future opportunities/benefits to our manufacturing operations.

 

The position is a hands-on role providing key leadership in project planning, execution and implementation.

 

This role reports to Operations Manager. Very close interaction with team members of Dyson teams and external manufacturers is paramount to the success of the role. Examples of Projects are:

  • Implementation of new prime contractor/sub-contractor
  • Implementation of new products/technologies into manufacturing

  • Driving CSR program

Efficiency Program related to:

  • Waste reduction
  • Engineering Change Management

  • Process improvements


Key component manufacturing

  • Project Management

  • Provide Leadership, coordination of assigned projects

  • Management of key stakeholders within the project

  • Co-ordination of cross functional teams both internally/externally


Manufacturing Efficiencies


  • Implement key efficiency program that reduce cost, improve quality

  • Implementation of Process Engineering changes to drive increased adherences to specifications.


Cost Management

  • Ensure projects that are delivering a cost benefit are reviewed/tracked to ensure benefits are realized.




Skills

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • 10 years in manufacturing, managing NPI or transfer projects 
  • Project management, Lean manufacturing,  
  • Project Management – Proven Experience/Formal Training.
  • Team player with a strong level of commitment to project deliverables.
  • Manufacturing Operations experience in running hi volume hi mix production, and also the deliverance of complex projects into production.
  • Drive and monitor factory efficiency performance.
  • Manufacturing awareness – Understanding the drivers and technologies of a manufacturing organization.
  • Supplier Management skills (ensure adequate supplier base to give flexibility, capacity and competitive supplies).
  • Project/Program Management experience – Knowledge of new product realization, including all DFX disciplines, risk assessment, risk mitigation planning, issue resolution and commonly accepted best practices.
  • Industrial engineering skills preferable (minimize cycle time, line balance, labour and machine effectiveness)
  • Motivated by driving continuous improvement to the working practices and processes.
  • Ability to think strategically with confidence and speed in execution.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to lead and motivate other not in direct line of responsibility; this role is to influence change.
  • Proven ability to lead and co-ordinate team activity in multifunctional environment as well as successfully manage multiple teams with a collaborative/mentoring style.
  • Strong skills and experience partnering with leaders in the business – identifying needs and finding solutions that multiple leaders can agree on
  • Ability to recruit, develop, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth.
  • Ability to adjust to rapid changes within the business, work in a fast paced environment, deliver under pressure and in tight timelines.
  • Self motivated, independent, result-driven.
  • Effective and outstanding communication skills at all levels of the organization.
