Market Overview

In 2000, Dyson moved production from Malmesbury to Malaysia to be closer to our supply chains and open up international growth. The small team of 10 has now grown to almost 1,200 – forming Dyson’s second biggest global hub. Located in the exhilarating industrial heart of Johor, it’s also home to RDD, IT, operations,  finance, creative and HR.

The RDD facility is central to our plans to launch 100 new machines in the next four years. To meet these ambitions, we recently expanded the site to 30,000m², with 50 advanced technology labs and 700 new engineers. In the Dyson world, there’s no more exciting place to be.

Function Overview

Accountabilities

Reporting to the DMSB (Malaysia) PCB Team lead, the successful candidate will become part of a busy ECAD team within Research Design and Development (RDD).


The librarian activity is a critical element of Electronics Hardware Design, directly supporting and affecting Electronics Engineers, PCB Engineering & Design, and Component Engineering activity. The scope of Dyson electronics has broadened in terms of product diversity, complexity and volume, coupled with faster time to market and increased quality demands. Our CAD library reflects these requirements, calling for individuals who can deliver fast, effective, efficient and accurate generation of CAD library data.


Key Attributes:


Technical knowledge of PCBA’s and electronics is an advantage, but not essential. Key attributes for this role focus on:

  • Accuracy & attention to detail is essential, even when under time pressure

  • A methodical, structured approach is critical to successful execution of this activity

  • The ability to follow process and guidelines

  • Consistency of work

  • A demonstrable aptitude towards CAD environment would be an advantage

Responsibilities:

  • Create CAD Library parts using Mentor Graphics Tools (training will be provided)

    • Create symbols & parts as required per Dyson library conventions

    • Component Cell creation to Dyson guidelines

    • Validate all library work (includes library data from PCB Engineers)

    • Generate all part and mapping data

  • Manage and maintain working libraries, including prototype libraries.

  • Maintain Valor VPL libraries

  • Generate 3D data components as required

  • Help manage Dyson library procedures by applying continuous improvement principles to library management process and generate supporting documentation.

  • Related library tasks:

    • Support Component Engineering activity within Library Process

    • Manage library workflow

    • Undertake library related administration tasks within the company data management system

    • Liaise with overseas design office regarding library work and DFM implementation

    • Undertake training as required
