Principal Manufacturing Engineer

•Support a team of Manufacturing Engineers responsible for translating product requirements into specifications for production equipment and testers which will be used to produce Dyson’s products.
•Ability to work in a fast pace ever changing environment to deliver optimal solutions at prescribed time frame.
•Develop and apply expertise in critical manufacturing processes and assembly process for new and existing products to improve yields and capacity.
•Work with contract manufacturers to layout, setup and qualify new product production lines and Critical to Quality technologies.
•Team player that has no lines drawn and willingness to go above and beyond your scope of work.
•Lead the design and improvement of robust solutions and resolutions of technical challenges across projects/matrix structure
•Act as subject matter expert in their field , disseminating knowledge, guiding and mentor engineers in methodology, best practise and standards
•Proactively identifying technical risks within projects and influencing design teams in their resolution, often taking the lead in the design and testing of the engineering solution
•Ensure the safety and reliability of all Dyson products
•Challenge and develop best practise and process improvements within team and across the wider function
•Accountable for proving an independent view and sign off of projects at each milestone
•Be a critical member of the team providing inputs from Manufacturing / Operations standpoint.
•Driver for DFM and DFX to ensure product can be manufactured to the highest quality levels.
•Create process flows tied to PFMEA to ensure checks and balances are in place. •Select and prove assembly methods via Proof of Principle machines.
•Generate user requirement specification/ equipment requirement specification.
•Work with suppliers to conduct Equipment FMEA to deliver solutions that are robust.
•Establish process validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) and work with supplier and CM to commission and validate the production equipment.
•Run experiments to define process margins using DOE.
•Setup process monitoring in line with quality expectations; using key tools like SPC.
•Maintain communication and status update to stakeholders.
•Problem solving and root cause analysis of product failures.
•Process optimization through breakthrough engineering solutions.
Key Skills / Experience:

•Masters/ Degree level or equivalent in Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
•Must have strong willingness to learn new things and challenge the existing production test/assembly method.
•At least 8 years of relevant experience in design and fabrication of automated or semi-automated production equipment.
•Experience in process validation URS, DS, FS along with IQ/OQ/PQ.
•Experience with High Volume Automation.
•Has operated in an out sourced environment; understanding the challenges and pit falls.
•Process Control design and implementation.
•Experience in data analysis driven decision making including statistical tools application (Minitab).
•Familiar with the rigor of NPI phases and milestones.
