Description and Requirements

Product Engineer in Product Engineering team will manage and work on the new product development projects, taking responsibility for all aspects of the Product specification and Engineering BOM creation through to production.


They will need to be a good communicator to discuss project challenge and update project status to key stakeholders and will need to have excellent attention to detail to keep track of project status at a part level.

Market Overview:

In 2000, Dyson moved production from Malmesbury to Malaysia to be closer to our supply chains and open up international growth. The small team of 10 has now grown to almost 1,200 – forming Dyson’s second biggest global hub. Located in the exhilarating industrial heart of Johor, it’s also home to RDD, IT, operations,  finance, creative and HR.


The RDD facility is central to our plans to launch 100 new machines in the next four years. To meet these ambitions, we recently expanded the site to 30,000m², with 50 advanced technology labs and 700 new engineers. In the Dyson world, there’s no more exciting place to be.

Function Overview:

Our Design engineering team is the idea factory of Dyson. It’s where we took the bag out of the vacuum. The blades out of a fan. And the heat out of hand dryers. With free-flowing curiosity and creativity, ideas are never in short supply. The key is deciding which ones could change the world and which should, for now, be shelved. This is done by the New Product Innovation team, who pass on the best ideas to New Product Development. Sketching, prototyping, testing, failing and refining follow. It can take months, even years. But those ideas that make it are big. The ones that transform markets.


  1. Manage Build of Material, BOM        – Manage new BOM start from release for development till approve for production. To ensure all product structure are according to latest design revision for all iteration.

  2. Manage in house prototype build. Consolidate information from design engineers and other support team to manage prototype build. Work closely with in house Workshop to deliver the rigs.

  3. Consolidate all sample requests for EB runs and manage the build. To ensure latest information from engineering team pass to Contract Manufacture (CM). Attend weekly meeting with CM.

  4. Manage SKU deliverables – BOM and Top Level SKU drawings, Rating plates, validation discussion, Machine allocation, Change Request actions, ISIR, golden machine sign-off, Deviation Request review etc.

  5. Coordinate and liaise with CM, assembly teams and other supporting departments for engineering build and Top Level BOM deliverables.

  6. Managing key activity as -Engineering Change Request, Test Request for engineering Build, Specification & Requirement, Prototype build Request, part approval report and KPI report.


  • Degree In Mechanical Engineering
  • 2- 5 years working experience as Engineer in New Product development environment.
  • Excellent communication and presenting skills to high level management.
  • Distinct project management skill to work with Marketing, Planning, Approval, Commercial and Production to develop new NPI/ SKU to hit targeted time plan.
  • Familiar with engineering BOM, able to create, manage and develop new engineering BOM base on marketing requirement.
  • Understanding of design change management, including the change order process, and an appreciation of the impact of design changes upon other departments
  • Ability to use Teamcenter, Uni-graphic NX, Excel, Word and Power point.
  • Ability to work on a number of tasks concurrently without losing focus.
