Description and Requirements

Dyson is forever innovating and looking to develop new and exciting products. As part of the Dyson Test Team, you will play an integral part in determining how, when and where we validate these new technologies and products to ensure these designs are robust to real world conditions.


Reporting to the Product Verification Team Lead, the Product Test Engineer is responsible for designing, executing and reporting on the critical testing required to prove out emerging Dyson technologies.

 

The Test Department covers the entire range of Dyson’s product portfolio, EXCEPT Electric Vehicles

Market Overview:

Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with design and technology teams to understand the risks associated with the new technologies, and help define the best way of assessing those risks

  • Design/Specify test equipment to enable these risks to be assessed – including suitable (and often bespoke) data acquisition setups

  • Either individually or as a part of a team of other engineers/technicians setup the required test and monitor their progress

  • Be fully involved in the failure analysis of any samples

  • Report results / progress / analysis to a wide range of stakeholders – including design engineers and engineering managers

  • Where tests require replication – either in UK or in South East Asia, write appropriate documentation and provide suitable guidance to enable these facilities to be setup

Skills:

  • Good organisational skills, able to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and co-ordinate with the work of others

  • Ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Able to translate and communicate technical information to project/research teams, managers and directors as required

     

  • An excellent understanding of data acquisition, processing and analysis

  • Persistent nature coupled with an inquisitive approach

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel

  • Knowledge of minitab, matlab, web based data visualisation

  • Knowledge of programming languages (eg VBA, Labview, Arduino, PLC, Robotic Arm, Python)
