Description

As part of Dyson’s global engineering project management team, you will lead the integration of key functions across a multi-functional team in the development of Dyson's future products.

Market Overview

Things move quickly at Dyson. In twenty years, what began with one man and one idea has grown into a global technology company, with 7,000 people and a presence in over 70 countries. From Malmesbury to Malaysia to the US to Australasia and many countries in between, we’ve sold over 80 million machines. And it’s just the start. From 2017 our Malmesbury HQ is doubling its footprint. The US, our biggest market, is doubling their sales scope. And new frontiers are opening up across South East Asia and beyond. More people, more ideas and more space for more invention. The next four years will be our biggest and busiest yet.

Function Overview

Dyson’s Project Management team is an established and growing function within Dyson. It’s a fast paced and dynamic team, which will challenge you to find solutions and different ways of working, whilst being supported by a Global Project Management team.

Accountabilities

You will have responsibility for Dyson projects from day one. You will challenge our engineers to achieve more. Every day will be different; you will work with design, research, procurement, manufacturing, commercial and marketing to ensure an integrated project delivery aligns to the wider business strategy.

The environment is fast paced, and you will have to work to a loose and changeable brief, so you must be comfortable working in an ambiguous environment. As part of your role, you will coordinate and communicate project status between teams within the organisations to ensure effective and timely input; resolve conflicts and lead solutions.

We want you to challenge concepts in order to achieve the optimum design within the boundaries of time, specification and cost; maintain and manage the risks, actions and issues trackers. You will work with development teams to ensure new technologies maximise the performance of Dyson’s new products.

Skills

  • Experience working in a dynamic and innovative environment.
  • First/2:1 Degree (design, engineering and manufacturing preferable) or equivalent
  • Outstanding project management capabilities (i.e. estimating and planning, risk management, status reporting, budget tracking, benefits analysis, stakeholder management and communication, resource management)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build productive working relationships and influence
  • Confident; comfortable with interacting with senior executives without being tempted to dilute unpleasant news or back down from well-reasoned analysis

Benefits Overview

Dyson monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and pension contributions. Beyond that, you’ll also enjoy a profit-related bonus, generous leave and life insurance. But financial benefits are only the start of a Dyson career. Rapid professional growth, leadership development and new opportunities abound, driven by regular reviews and dynamic workshops. And with a vibrant culture, flexible working hours, the latest devices and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, it’s an exciting team environment geared to creativity, innovation and ambition.
