Junior Project Manager - New Product Innovation

£Competitive + Pension, Bonus, 27 Days Holiday

Malmesbury, Wiltshire

This is an opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their Project Management career. You will work within New Product Innovation, partnering with Engineers and Designers to drive the development of Dyson's future products, with a particular focus in early stage product development.

Market Overview

Home to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, Dyson HQ is tucked away in countryside famous for the railway tunnels and bridges of Isambard Brunel, who revolutionised modern engineering. Our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent-minded. Yet nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology). The building is the heartbeat of Dyson. Over 2,000 people, including James himself, spend their days strategising, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world. Our HQ has begun doubling its footprint with an ambitious new expansion.

Function Overview

Dyson’s Project Management team is an established and growing function within Dyson. It’s a fast paced and dynamic team, which will challenge you to find solutions and different ways of working, whilst being supported by a Global Project Management team.

You will have responsibility for Dyson projects from day one. You will challenge our engineers to achieve more. Every day will be different; you will work with design, research, procurement, manufacturing, commercial and marketing to ensure an integrated project delivery aligns to the wider business strategy.

The environment is fast paced, and you will have to work to a loose and changeable brief, so you must be comfortable working in an ambiguous environment. As part of your role, you will coordinate and communicate project status between teams within the organisations to ensure effective and timely input; resolve conflicts and lead solutions.

We want you to challenge concepts in order to achieve the optimum design within the boundaries of time, specification and cost; maintain and manage the risks, actions and issues trackers. You will work with development teams to ensure new technologies maximise the performance of Dyson’s new products.

  • Experience working in a dynamic and innovative environment
  • First/2:1 Degree (design, engineering and manufacturing preferable) or equivalent
  • Project management capabilities (e.g. estimating and planning, risk management, status reporting, stakeholder management and communication, resource management)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build productive working relationships and influence
  • Confident and comfortable with interacting with stakeholders at different levels without being tempted to dilute unpleasant news or back down from well-reasoned analysis

Benefits Overview

Dyson monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and pension contributions. Beyond that, you’ll also enjoy a profit-related bonus, generous leave and life insurance. But financial benefits are only the start of a Dyson career. Rapid professional growth, leadership development and new opportunities abound, driven by regular reviews and dynamic workshops. And with a vibrant culture, flexible working hours, the latest devices and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, it’s an exciting team environment geared to creativity, innovation and ambition.
