The Commercial Team is responsible for bringing our engineering, technology and products to life through national product launches and marketing campaigns.  We work across a diverse team of specialists and with our global markets to deliver outstanding communications. Whilst we have highly differentiated products, our consumer experiences are not consistently differentiated across all touch points. We need to be content rich, user centric and data driven. This means we need to develop new capability, processes and tools so we can create uniquely Dyson owner experiences. To drive this we are creating the new & pivotal role of Regional Planning & Operations Director to take a more strategic approach to the planning & operational process. This role will be based in London and will be responsible for taking our corporate approach closer to the region, whilst building a team, and creating stronger capability directly in Europe.  This will allow for a better presentation of consumer needs and allow Dyson Owners to engage with the company more effectively. This person will report into the Global Planning & Operations Director based in Malmesbury.  The role will lead the Media, Agency, Delivery and PMO functions present in the regional Satellite and work with the Global POD to ensure that all of our NPD and Campaign launches are executed with excellence and activated in market on time to drive sales.

We are looking for someone to oversee the Commercial function in the Region and lead the talent in the Global Centers of Excellence. The ideal candidate will identify gaps, create action plans to mitigate these gaps, and work with regional providers to complement the Global plan to deliver on our business strategy.

It is important that this person understands the Dyson got to market approach, the reputation we are seeking to build/protect, the experiences we want to create and the Dyson way. As well as lead the regional deployment of our global process, ways of working, new systems, and reporting.

Function Overview

In order to deliver on this vision and Dyson’s growth ambitions, we are transforming the way we work.

 

This transformation is being led by the Planning and Operations team in Malmesbury but we need to ensure that our capability, processes, tools and language are championed throughout our global business to enable us to scale in the future and operate in a more agile manner.

 

To drive this we are creating new, pivotal roles of Regional Planning & Operations Leads to take a more strategic approach to the planning & operational process in each of our key regions and to champion the Dyson way of doing things. This person will report into the Global Planning & Operations Director based in Malmesbury and act as key conduit into the Americas CoE,  co-ordinating the functions of Planning & Operations, Creative, Retail, CSI and Commercial Managers within the European Centre of Excellence. They will also lead the day to day Planning & Operations/Creative teams.

Accountabilities

We are looking for someone to lead our EU Centre of Excellence (CoE), comprising France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Austria. The role will be based in London but will require travel to be effective in the role. The EU is an incredibly important region for Dyson as we look to drive the transformation of our perception in the region from a vacuum to a technology enterprise. This role needs to support this transformation and lead the deployment of our Global ‘one process’, milestone way of working, project systems and reporting. It is important that this person rapidly learns the Dyson ’Go To Market’ (GTM) approach, the reputation we are seeking to build and protect and the experiences we want to create in a uniquely Dyson way.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Leading the deployment of our Global process, way of working, project systems and reporting into the regional CoE.  We have 1 process, way of working and reporting. These will need understood and to be followed.

  2. Working closely with the components of the CoE to coordinate and ensure a smooth operation that will be based across multiple countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Austria)

  3. Identify projects, requirements, resource, timings and to ensure that the CoE and Group functions are aware of and understand these requirements.

  4. Working closely with all teams to ensure ‘excellence in execution’

  5. Building, leading and managing the CoE team to effectively fulfil their roles and responsibilities, and encourage responsibility/accountability appropriate to their position.

  6. To add value to the overall GTM approach and drive closer connection and interaction between Group, Market teams and Partners

  7. The partner teams in the region (Media & Trans-creation/Artwork) and ensuring that Dyson’s interests are represented and all value is extracted. Work with Group & Markets to establish KPIs, measure performance, monitor quality of delivery and continually improve.

  8. Governance and compliance to financial, HR and programme process as applied to Commercial functions.

  9. Working with the Global Planning and Operations Director on audit compliance.

  10. Working with market teams to help shape briefs and identify relevant media channel opportunities, retail landscapes, marketing technology innovations and user information at the appropriate point in the NPD & Campaign development.

  11. Quality control across campaign and project design and delivery. Look at quality of input at the various phases of project development so key decision gateways are met and briefs are thorough, on brand and reflect the market and category needs in region.

  12. Exploring with Global POD the establishment of the Media data visual layer and how this is accessed and by whom.

  13. Supporting Planning & Operations teams and encourage personal development through formal and informal feedback. Conduct appraisals annually, setting clear objectives and monitoring progress.

  14. Budget control of regional CoE team budgets.

  15. Collation of weekly project RAGs and status.

  16. Providing analysis and insight on project management, project delivery and define cause and effect with recommendation on solutions.

  17. Working proactively to identify and fix live issues

  18. Resource allocation and insight working with CoE and global POD teams to ensure resource needs are understood and planned appropriately.

  19. Contribute as a senior member of the EU leadership team looking to ensure we continuously improve and deliver

  20. Take initiative and inspire the transition to new ways of working to benefit Dyson.

  21. Participate in interviewing and recruiting of new staff, where appropriate.

  22. Responsible for the quality of output and performance of the team across the functions within CoE

  23. Responsible for working directly with markets to solve issues flagged and ensure process compliance. Training teams as necessary. 

  24. Sharing best practice and content across the region and other CoEs

Accountabilities:

  • The delivery of projects on time, measured through the successful completion of project milestones.

  • The championing of innovation in CoE, sharing best practice within and other CoEs

  • A productive, effective relationship with markets

Skills

  • Highly-organised with proven experience in programme management

  • Calm, considered approach and be able to cope with a very busy workload

  • Good communication skills (clear communication, knowing when to communicate what to whom) and ability to develop working relationships easily
