This position will provide operational support to Human Resources, focused across all areas of the employee experience, from onboarding to termination, and provide administrative support to the Analyst/Consultant team, while maximizing efficiency, ensuring accuracy and improving overall service delivery.

Market Overview

Dyson sells products in 71 countries, and it employs almost 6,000 people globally, one third of whom are engineers and scientists. The face of Dyson is changing rapidly. Three years ago 80% of Dyson’s business was full-sized vacuum cleaners. Today its digital motor powers cordless vacuums, robots, hand dryers, bladeless fans, humidifiers, purifiers and heaters around the world. This is just the beginning; we just launched our new Supersonic Hair Dryer and have a plan to launch many other new products over the next 3 years.

Function Overview

  • Schedule and plan all Chicago and Aurora location Inductions including facilitation and presentation of HR policies
  • Schedule and coordinate all new hire training programs and requirements
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes as appropriate
  • Work with recruiter and HR business partner to ensure proper information regarding new starters is received
  • Send out new hire paperwork and ensure receipt
  • Compile new hire paperwork and action as appropriate
  • Create new employee files
  • Enter new employees in the payroll, time and attendance  and HRIS system
  • Coordinate relocation matters as needed
  • Administer and track online new hire training for assigned departments 

Employee status changes

  • Update the organization chart as changes happen
  • Prepare transfer and promotional letters as needed
  • Ensure terminations are processed timely and accurately and are communicated appropriately
  • Assist HR counterpart to ensure unemployment claims are responded to in a timely manner
  • Complete and process status change forms and submit to HR counterpart and manager for approval as soon as notice is received
  • Provide status change information and/or communicate to business via weekly status updates

HR policy and administration support

  • Ensure all HR documents comply with Group retention policy
  • Own HR filing systems and process including I-9 filing, compliance and training
  • Coordinate the 2-Year technology program
  • Responsible for all HR department shipments and mailings
  • Review and track policy changes collaborating with legal department to ensure compliance

Employee Terminations

  • Coordinate receipt of assets as needed
  • Collaborate with HR counterpart and finance partners to process final payment according to state laws
  • Arrange shipment of term letters and checks as needed
  • Coordinate return of personal belongings
  • Process separation agreements for payment

Benefits Admin

  • Responsible for all new hire benefit communications and enrollments
  • Coordinate annual open enrollments and benefits fair process
  • Ensure all benefit file feeds transfer on time and accurately
  • Provide on-going benefits support to employees
  • Responsible for processing and auditing monthly benefits billings
  • Process, track and maintain ERISA compliance notices

FMLA and LoA Admin

  • Partner with Unum to coordinate leave approval process and ensure compliance to Dyson policy and governance
  • Own the leave process including paperwork, pay adjustments, tracking and internal/external communications
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and the legal department to coordinate review of open cases

Worker’s Compensation Support (currently handled by HRBP’s)

  • Ensure all recordable incidents are reported and submitted to WC carrier in a timely manner
  • Be the point of contact for employee, management and WC carrier on all reported incidents
  • Responsible for reporting, investigating, communicating and tracking of all recordable incidents
  • Ensure Dyson managers and HR are completing consistent and thorough incident investigations through communications and training
  • Partner with HRBP, Rewards, legal and WC provider on return to work programs including modified job duties
  • Prepare OSHA 300 and 300A reports
  • Assist with development, design and implementation of Dyson’s Safety program through incident analysis

Mobility Admin

  • Responsible for lease execution process if/when needed
  • Proactively coordinate employee relocations to facilitate smooth transitions
  • Communicate with recruiting, HR counterparts and transferring employee to obtain required information
  • Work with temp housing providers to negotiate competitive rates
  • Track and pay invoices and submit for payroll adjustments as needed
  • Work with transferring employee to address any issues or concerns throughout transition period 


  • 2+ years of HR experience
  • Experience with HR processes
  • High School or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • The ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Analytical ability
  • Ability to create and maintain control procedures
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Must be adaptable to a fast paced and changing department
  • Advanced skills in Word, Power point and Excel required
  • Ability to produce charts, graphs, pivot tables preferred
