As part of the £2.5 billion investment, Dyson acquired a 650 acre plot in Hullavington. This former Royal Air Force base, just five miles from Dyson HQ, will increase our UK footprint tenfold. We’ll be turning old hangars into futuristic labs and workspaces – creating a campus to rival those in Silicon Valley.

Function Overview

We’ve begun work on a battery electric vehicle – that’s no secret. It has remained our ambition to solve the worldwide problem of air pollution for nearly 30 years. Now that we have the ability to bring all our technologies together into a single product, we’re able to solve this problem at the source. For now, it’s all about finding the right people to make it all happen for 2020.


  • Take a role in delivery of aerodynamic targets
  • Develop new innovative aerodynamic concepts to provide ground baking solutions to meet airflow targets with minimum impact to other vehicle attributes

  • Set-up, run and analyse CFD simulations and present results to relevant teams

  • Produce high quality surface models of concepts for CFD evaluation

  • Design of aerodynamic concept components for release for prototype models, manufacture and wind tunnel testing

  • Improve and develop processes for efficiency, validity and fidelity

  • Organisation and running of track and wind-tunnel tests

  • Produce report summaries and present findings to senior management


  • An advanced knowledge and understanding of theoretical, experimental and numerical aerodynamics

  • Experience in motorsport or automotive aerodynamics

  • Demonstrable industrial experience of the application of CFD (ANSYS Fluent, StarCCM or similar)

  • Knowledge of experimental techniques in aerodynamics to enable project success

  • Strong experience in parametric surfacing and solid modelling part design (NX preferred)

  • Experience of wind-tunnel and track testing, including instrumentation, data acquisition and processing

  • Experience in design for manufacture techniques and material selection to meet a product specification requirement would be a distinct advantage

  • A willingness to learn and understand components and systems impacts on aerodynamics

  • Ability to communicate appropriate, concise and accurate information, both in writing and verbally

  • Proven ability to work autonomously with responsibility to deliver to tight project deadlines

  • Be able to multi-task and plan effectively when working with a variety of project teams in an often high-pressure

  • Creative approach to data visualisation, representation and manipulation
