We are looking for someone with performance & claims experience to help drive end-to-end claims development within the commercial organisation as a Senior Claims Manager for Dyson.  Someone who has experience working with products in the Health and Beauty industry would beneficial. 

Market Overview

Home to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, Dyson HQ is tucked away in countryside famous for the railway tunnels and bridges of Isambard Brunel, who revolutionised modern engineering. Our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent-minded. Yet nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology).

The building is the heartbeat of Dyson. Over 2,000 people, including James himself, spend their days strategising, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world.

Function Overview

Ensuring robust, durable substantiation is in place before Dyson makes any performance statement to the wider world. Analysing and presenting data, explaining technical detail to non-technical audiences. Working with RDD and legal to develop appropriate test methods and capability within and outside of Dyson. Conceiving and executing novel research with contract and academic partners to evidence new claim avenues. Keeping Dyson out of court by treading the line between compelling claims that sell product and having persuasive, comprehensive data to support advertising


  • Be responsible for all claims, methods, testing and evidence for one or more Dyson product categories. Build expertise in those categories, know the technology.
  • Develop the claim  strategy for each project from early milestones and work with Research & Development to tune product specs and validate suitable test methods
  • Assist local markets in designing region-specific research with local partner organisations to facilitate new product endorsement/advocacy or novel claims
  • Attend product launches to present new Dyson technology to the media, conduct interviews and train local marketing teams on product detail and claims
  • Coach marketing managers in local advertising law requirements, and limitations and constraints on substantiation and subsequent claim language
  • Attend weekly category cross-team meetings with senior managers to represent issues and opinion


  • Degree-qualified scientist or engineer in relevant subject area 
  • Technical expertise and the ability to understand the impact of regulations or new test metrics on our claims
  • Demonstrable analytical prowess - able to scrutinise claims and copy and identify subtleties, flaws and inferences Strategic thinking to identify opportunities and develop new test methods that will benefit our product categories and may influence consumer magazines and standards bodies 
  • Ability to see connections between internal technical developments, standards and current legal challenges – both inbound and outbound
