Description and Requirements

Do you want to own and contribute to designing, building and maintaining data intensive applications? You will be working as part of a team within Dyson’s IoT platform engineering group, being involved in the full software development life cycle.

You'll delivrey the next generation of business insight capabilities for Dyson's connected products as well as driving improvements to scalability, cost efficiency and continuous deployment infrastructure. Internet connected products is a growing area for Dyson where we aim to continue our reputation of being innovative and disruptive. We’re building world-class engineering teams and adopting the latest technology and techniques to ensure we can deliver our ambitious vision in the connected space.

You’ll be working to support multiple business stakeholders and data analysts in one of the fastest moving consumer technology domains, alongside other engineers, designers, commercial strategists and electronics engineers. Accountabilities:

  • Requirements elicitation and analysis of technical specifications
  • Developing production quality software with automated testing
  • Improving team efficiency by evolving working practices and procedures
  • Working collaboratively as a key member of an agile development team
  • Assist in the development of an architectural roadmap for future products
  • Pairing, mentoring and reviewing the code of others to offer guidance and improvement if needed
  • Monitoring key performance indicators through test environments and into production

Skills:

  • Solid understanding of efficient data structures and database technologies
  • Experience in building and maintaining production quality ETL pipelines
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, C#) 
  • Comfortable with pair programming in an agile development environment
  • Experience in some NoSQL/BigData technologies (Redshift, BigQuery, Cassandra, Hadoop)
