A member of the Database Administration (DBA) team provides technical and business process expertise supporting the Database Administration Team Leader and DBA team The role provides technical expertise for all Dyson Group databases, including the internally hosted SAP, AWS cloud hosted databases, SharePoint, Dyson applications and 3rd party systems.

Function Overview

As we expand geographically, taking on more people and more complex enterprises, our IT Infrastructure department needs to continually evolve to face new challenges. We are the foundation that supports all of Dyson’s global systems and ensure we have the capacity and performance to support the aggressive growth of the business. We span all business functions from finance to RDD and work closely with the Service Delivery, Client support and Cyber Security teams to guarantee the correct infrastructure is in place and operating as expected. We are responsible for all on premise IT infrastructure in our state of the art datacentre in the UK and some key cloud systems. The Dyson database team are responsible for all databases globally hosted on premise and in the cloud.

Accountabilities

• Support and administration of all Dyson SQL Server, Oracle, SAP Sybase, SAP MaxDB and MySQL databases instances globally
• Delivery of core database project activities
• Provide technical assistance and problem determination of SQL Server technologies and other core technologies utilised within the organisation
• Provision of third line support for the Dyson IT Service Delivery
• Provide system administration for Database administrations and Windows 2008/2012 servers

Skills

• Setup, management and monitoring of SQL Server 2008/2008 R2/ 2012/2014/2016 databases.
• Experience with optimising queries and performance tuning
• Backup, restore and disaster recovery of database systems
• Management and maintenance of SQL Server clusters
• Experience of creating and maintaining SQL AlwaysON, SQL Server database mirrors and SQL Server replication
• Setup, management and monitoring of MySQL, Oracle, Sybase and MaxDB databases (Desirable)
• Experience of supporting AWS cloud Server SQL and Oracle instances (Desirable)
• Experience of running SAP systems using a Windows \ SQL Server platform (Desirable)
• Experience of managing and maintaining SQL Server instances on a wide variety of storage platforms, including attached storage units and enterprise level SAN (Desirable)
