Description and Requirements

Specifically the Body Engineering Senior Design Engineer will create, package and release body structure, exterior parts and hardware components, support test and development from concept through to engineering release, working to the program milestones and timing. This includes integrating with the product team in an environment that promotes autonomy and initiative, requiring a flexible attitude with a desire to deliver quality, robust and innovative solutions and presenting to management to help guide development of the product.

Accountabilities:

Define component/system level targets based a combination of programme attribute targets, legal requirements, specific/generic design guidelines, and industry standard/best practice.

Concept and supplier selection via structured process.

Ensure failure mode avoidance (FMA) tools and processes (e.g. DFMEA) are applied to all components/systems.

Control the development of CAD data level maturity and compatibility via the “Virtual Series” .

Releasing of finished designs through internal releasing system to agreed timing milestones.



Skills:

    Engineering degree in relevant discipline.

    Experienced in delivering relevant automotive component / system within OEM / Tier 1.

    Knowledge of Body and Trim System best practices, materials, manufacturing requirements, mechanical properties and failure mechanisms.

    Experience of DFMEA, DFM and methodical problem solving skills.

    Knowledge of NX / TeamCenter would be an advantage.

    Experience of complete vehicle design and development.
