Description and Requirements

To lead the technical design with an all new body architecture for a future generation Dyson Electric Vehicle, managing  signing off engineering releases within agreed time frames, managing a team, and working with cross functional teams  to ensure feasibility,  cost, weight and quality targets are met.

Malmesbury is tucked away in countryside famous for the landmarks of Isambard Brunel, who revolutionised modern engineering. A charming Wiltshire market town doesn’t sound like the place to develop world leading technology, but it’s just right for us. Our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent–minded.

As part of the £2.5 billion investment, Dyson acquired a 650 acre plot in Hullavington. This former Royal Air Force base, just five miles from Dyson HQ, will increase our UK footprint tenfold. We’ll be turning old hangars into futuristic labs and workspaces – creating a campus to rival those in Silicon Valley.

Function Overview:

We’ve begun work on a battery electric vehicle – that’s no secret. It has remained our ambition to solve the worldwide problem of air pollution for nearly 30 years. Now that we have the ability to bring all our technologies together into a single product, we’re able to solve this problem at the source. For now, it’s all about finding the right people to make it all happen for 2020.


Work as part of a department responsible for delivering a body in white structure.
Responsible for managing a team of design engineers.
Optimise and validate designs with simulation and correlation tests.
Geometry responsible and cable of delivering CAD data for the appropriate program milestone.
Deliver specifications for function, cost, weight and investment.
Write and deliver FMA, DVPs, standards, guidelines and test methodology.
Generate proposals, design ratification and reports.
Create system and component level validation test methods.
Ensure compliance to global regulations and standards.
Ability to work with suppliers and third parties from manufacturing feasibility to production.


Have previous automotive body design experience.
The ability to lead a team, mange resources and deliver on time. Have proven experience of delivering and validating automotive assemblies.
Extensive knowledge of body materials and technology including joining and process.
Experience of Team Centre and preferably Siemens NX.
Ability to work among talented and progressive colleagues as part of a driven and dedicated Dyson organisation.
Possess a hands on approach and a can-do attitude.
