Senior PCB DfX Engineer

Competitive

Senai, Johor

Description

Dyson develops and manufactures complex electronic products requiring equally sophisticated, engineered PCBA design solutions. We need a motivated, experienced PCB DfX Engineer to help develop and drive embedded BiC (Best-in-Class) design principles into our electronics product design flow; enabling us to achieve the ambitious, exciting goals the business has challenged us to meet, fuelled by Dyson’s continual drive towards solving difficult problems, through developing innovative, well-engineered and disruptive technology.

This is a technically demanding role, and an area of growth within the business. Dyson RDD is vibrant, diverse, very challenging and always interesting; you automatically become a part of the design innovation and engineering that make Dyson the technology brand it is. If you’re a design engineer, it’s definitely the right place to be…

Market Overview

In 2000, Dyson moved production from Malmesbury to Malaysia to be closer to our supply chains and open up international growth. The small team of 10 has now grown to almost 1,200 – forming Dyson’s second biggest global hub. Located in the exhilarating industrial heart of Johor, it’s also home to RDD, IT, operations,  finance, creative and HR.

The RDD facility is central to our plans to launch 100 new machines in the next four years. To meet these ambitions, we recently expanded the site to 30,000m², with 50 advanced technology labs and 700 new engineers. In the Dyson world, there’s no more exciting place to be.

Function Overview

When you invent something, the right technology to support it often doesn’t exist. So we make our own. From advanced systems, components and power supplies to building a digital motor from scratch, Dyson electronics engineers have enabled Dyson ideas to become reality. As our future products rely more on robotics, connectivity, and complex sensing and navigation technologies, our high speed electronics will stand us apart. From designing the hardware to the systems that make Dyson machines as reliable as they are intelligent, our electronics engineers are central to our most pioneering RDD.

Accountabilities

Reporting to the PCB DfX Technical lead, the successful candidate will become part of a busy global ECAD team working with Mechanical and Electronics engineers within Research Design and Development (RDD), driving embedded DfX (Design for ‘X’, e.g. DFM, DFF) and BiC principles into our design process, tools and approach; enabling efficient & effective design, doing more with less.

The scope of the team is broad; encompassing technical input from early product concept reviews to post-production support, building, developing guidelines, and driving adoption. Support to both Manufacturing and Quality teams are also a part of the activity, as well as supporting/driving the on-going cost save activity, and building technology roadmaps.

Behaviours

The role is demanding, and the ideal candidate will either be an experienced PCB DfX Engineer or a PCB designer, with a proven track record creating robust, reliable BiC designs and solutions. You must also be able to self-manage and motivate, managing your own time in order to undertake a variety of PCB DfX related activities.  The ideal candidate will be able to drive adoption of new design principles, alternate thinking, and change. Dyson engineers are many things; you must be able to provide solutions where you identify problems, be pro-active, and become a role model plus technical resource for others. The ideal candidate must be innovative, enjoy being challenged, adapt to change, function within a team, but also work independently as required.

To meet these expectations we encourage our engineers to grow and expand their own capabilities, encouraging career development through training, experience and promotion; Dyson provides plenty of opportunities for motivated individuals to break through their own boundaries, to excel and drive their careers forward.
