Function Overview

Procurement at Dyson plays a vital role in strategic decision making. Ultimately it affects the very design of our machines and the growth ambitions of the business. In the balance between quality and price, quality must always win. So our global team needs to be rigorous in selection. Meticulous in determining standards, researching suppliers, analysing value and negotiating contracts. Challenging and diverse, their work creates a dynamic, driven team. Where the ‘next big thing’ relies on their ability to deliver agile, lean solutions as much as the inventiveness of Dyson engineers’ themselves.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the development of designated global category strategies & gain concurrence / consensus across all identified stakeholders          

  • Lead and coordinate sourcing projects to ensure completion to meet project/business needs

  • Lead the supplier selection & negotiation process, coordinating the relevant cross-functional team and ensuring best value from the supplier-base

  • Ensure, following contract award, that appropriate supplier relationship and performance management structures and mechanisms are deployed to effectively manage contract adherence & performance

  • Support a continuous improvement program to advance procurement processes, governance and capabilities across the group

Skills

  • MCIPS preferred

  • Experience of managing indirect categories such as Professional Services, IT and Plant & equipment

  • Proven track record in delivering results in favourable and unfavourable conditions

  • Working in and leading cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrable ability of working globally with different cultures

  • Operating supplier relationship & supplier performance management

  • Well-developed category knowledge and the ability to move across indirect categories.  Understands total supply chain value and applies it to developing the strategy

  • Able to handle a complex workload and overcome obstacles in a pressurised environment

  • Distils complex situations into manageable tasks and interdependencies; captures requirements and manages work scope

  • Communicates at all levels using appropriate tools, techniques and channels in different situations
