Market Overview

In 2000, Dyson moved production from Malmesbury to Malaysia to be closer to our supply chains and open up international growth. The small team of 10 has now grown to almost 1,200 – forming Dyson’s second biggest global hub. Located in the exhilarating industrial heart of Johor, it’s also home to RDD, IT, operations,  finance, creative and HR.

The RDD facility is central to our plans to launch 100 new machines in the next four years. To meet these ambitions, we recently expanded the site to 30,000m², with 50 advanced technology labs and 700 new engineers. In the Dyson world, there’s no more exciting place to be.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specializes in product category testing and validation expert

    • Familiarize in new product features and specification

    • Capable of translating product spec into test spec and concerns

    • Support product engineering improvement through comprehensive test regime and recommendations for improvement

    • Possess good understanding of standard test procedures


  • Establish test facilities and lab equipment

    • Develop new test rigs and apparatus to facilitate new test method

    • Understand product requirements and make necessary adjustment to the test setup

    • Improve test platform robustness and versatility to cater for different product features

    • Ensure safety compliance on the test facilities and equipment used

    • Generate Test Capacity Planner to meet the project demands and testing deadlines


  • Generate validation test results

    Present Test and FRACAS status through standard test deliverables

    Communicate with the validation team to update test progress and status, result analysis and test schedule

    Assist design team on all new testing involving design modification, part replacement and improvements

    Review failure summary to ensure they are FRACAS documented and status reflected on the RDD Control Tower


  • Develop User Interaction test methodology and passmark

    • Propose DTM / test matrix improvement based on the latest product features and functionality

    • Define new test conditions and parameters; while assist in new test rigs design based on the product  requirement

    • Develop test passmarks for relevant product specification

    • Advise method to accelerate testing and reduce test lead time

    • Correlate field failures to in-house validation findings to evaluate if the DTMs are relevant


  • Provides sound quantifiable failure analysis through trends and statistical tools

    • Develop statistical analysis in a wide range of concepts to compute product life and reliability

    • Troubleshoot product failure and analyse test results to determine the root cause of failure(s)

    • Establish confidence in test results by performing between-test comparisons based on the ratio of sample sizes and product reliability


  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Min 6 Years of relevant experience with  at least 4 years of team management experience.
  • Must have strong willingness to learn new things and challenge the existing test methods to ensure that it is robust and accurate.
  • Ability to think out of the box.
