Description and Requirements

Reporting to the National Training Manager, the Training Specialist role is responsible for coordination and execution of sales training initiatives for our field sales teams, internal teams, national retail and independent sales channel partners across Canada.

Function Overview:

Across our global markets, we partner all the key players – online and on the high street. Plus, recently our first Dyson store was launched, with many more to come. It gives us a new benchmark for Dyson retail standards – elevating the brand and inspiring new ways to put Dyson technology into people's homes.


Reporting to the National Training Manager, the Training Specialist role is responsible for coordination and execution of sales training initiatives for our field sales teams, internal teams, national retail and independent sales channel partners across Canada. Working as part of a collaborative team, this role will be instrumental in supporting training assessment, content development, and design.  The role will focus on the delivery of Dyson technology product knowledge, sales skills and various internal/external training programs. Ensuring that we are preparing our sales teams to effectively deliver the right information, at the right place, at the right time to successfully grow Dyson Canada and become influential within Dyson Global.


Specifically, you will –

·         Support National Training Manager in the identification and execution of all field, retail, independent channel, and internal training initiatives.

·         Modelling the Dyson Difference through superior demonstration and the Dyson Experience approach to selling.

·         Effectively communicate through live (or recorded) presentation, in-class learning, online webinars, corporate events, and regional conferences.

·         Collaborate with Demonstration Program Manager to deliver demonstrator new hire induction, sales skills training and infield skills coaching support.

·         Coordinate new product knowledge and sales skills training programs with Territory Sales Managers, Dyson Store and Field Demonstration Representatives

·         Review learning retention, application and behavioural changes through collaboration with field teams, spot checks and team support.

·         Alongside Dyson National Sales Team, support learning relationships, deliver engaging sales training to support our national retail training leadership and the execution of account specific learning programs.

·         Work closely with Marketing teams for new product launches including the support of marketing events and to best understand competitive technology and appropriate responses

·         Apply knowledge from Global Demonstration Team and Dyson Engineers for the explanation and positioning of all core technology and new product launches.

·         Partner with H.R. and the recruiting team to coordinate and conduct new-hire induction training classes using company designed programs

·         Responsible for organisation of training delivery for retail events including (but not limited to) booking venues, materials, samples and support coverage of local market training sessions, training roadshows and national retailer summit events

·         Monitor training overheads to track and maintain expenses according to set budgetary guidelines

·         Support post-training evaluation: Distribution, collection and protection of participant data

·         Think creatively and identify opportunities to challenge and deliver excellence in training

·         Identify knowledge gaps, learning opportunities, and suggest solutions

·         Travel up to 50% may be required

·         Fulfill other duties as required


A highly motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and organized professional who –

·         Brings 2+ years’ experience working/supporting/delivering training to both individual and large groups in retail sales environments with focus on assisted sales environments.

·         Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels

·         Experience with training content creation, building presentations and delivering on tight deadlines

·         Effectively work individually or as part of a team

·         A certification in training and or adult education (such as CTP, CTDP, RPT) an asset

·         Proficiency using either Apple Keynote and/or MS OFFICE

·         Fluency in Canadian French will be considered a strong asset
