The BI Visualisation Analyst supports the Commercial Insight Manager in the production and development of analytics and reporting for the group. The successful candidate will be adept at using Tableau and other BI tools to design and deliver impactful and insightful analytics using complex and diverse data sets.

Function Overview

The Commercial Analytics and Reporting team is an integral part of Dyson’s finance community.  We deliver the reporting and analysis of performance across the group, both financial and non-financial, liaising directly with global markets to provide support to the Dyson Executive team.

Accountabilities

As BI Visualisation Analyst, you are responsible for obtaining the relevant data, using Tableau and other BI tools to produce compelling reporting and acting as a BI SME within the finance community to upskill the rest of the team. The role will involve leveraging the Hadoop environment to produce analysis for the Dyson Executive and Board.
 
Core responsibilities will include:

  • Gather BI requirements, design and deliver analytics and reporting solutions that deliver insight and value to the business
  • Create BI content that is customised to Executive and Board requirements; is visually appealing and runs quickly
  • Act as commercial finance technical lead to engage with Dyson’s Big Data strategy and influence further Hadoop data development and access
  • Work with business stakeholders to ensure effective testing and launch comms/demos
  • Champion the use of good BI throughout Dyson, driving adoption and growth in the user base
  • Sustain positive business engagement, partnering with stakeholders to ensure BI unlocks value
  • Carefully manage any impact to business change together with the project managers and co-ordinate delivery through to release
  • Maintain business and product knowledge to be able to understand and explain context of reporting
  • Deliver training to end users centred around how to access, consume and utilise the analytics we deploy

Skills

Essential

A background working in BI is essential for the role, covering some or all of the following:
  • Hands-on experience using BI visualisation tools to create reporting solutions that transform complex datasets into actionable KPI’s. Our current toolset includes (but is not restricted to):
- Tableau 10
- SAP BW 7.4 and Business Objects 4.2 (Webi, Lumira & Design Studio)
- MS SQL Server 2012 and Analysis Services
- Adobe Analytics
  • Appreciation of the role of systems within business operations and the impacts of major change
  • Experience of project delivery/ business change, in a BI role
  • Reviewing business processes/ data sets and identifying areas for improvement
  • Working with IT teams to turn business requirements into system specifications
  • Testing the developed solution
  • Handover / knowledge transfer / training to business users
  • Determined to identify solutions and prepared to overcome obstacles to follow through to completion
  • Good commercial awareness, particularly around principles of good performance reporting
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex ideas in simple terms and influence thinking to steer outcomes towards strategic BI solutions
  • Competent at training/presenting (virtually and in-person) whilst thinking on the spot to provide answers
  • Passion for good data visualisation and an awareness of what good (and bad!) BI looks like
  • Preferable: exposure to Agile delivery programs
  • Preferable: experience with BW to HANA migration
